Who We're Looking For
We encourage candidates from various backgrounds to apply, even if you don't meet all the qualifications below. We're seeking a highly technical, hands-on problem solver to join our R&D team as a cryogenic specialist. The ideal candidate should have experience not only running dilution refrigerators and similar cryogenic systems, but actually building them. Experience with cryogenic heat switches and sintered powder heat exchangers is considered a strong asset. This role is vital in our journey to commercialize our core product.

Your Role
-
Collaborate with our R&D team in our innovative journey, addressing complex challenges in cryogenics.

Develop state-of-the-art dilution refrigerators, ancillary products, and cryostats.
-
Improve cooling power and base temperature for new fridge designs.
-
Assist in integrating superconducting magnets and other R&D projects.
-
Help resolve production and manufacturability challenges.
-
Assist with the development and implementation of standards that will improve reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications
-
PhD or MSc in physics, engineering, or equivalent experience.

Experience with dilution refrigerators in industry or academia, preferentially building dilution refrigerators not only operating them.

Passport and ability to pass security clearances for customer site installations if necessary.
Skills Desired:

Strong background in, and comfort level with, thermodynamics.

Finite element modelling expertise will be considered positively.

Cryogen-free magnet thermal management.

Having built continuous or step heat exchangers, gas gap heat switches; experience with high-density RF wiring; or cryogenic vibration isolation will be favored.

Location and Schedule
This position is based at our Edmonton facility at 9773 45th Ave NW. Edmonton is the capital of Alberta, Canada, and is the fifth-largest city in Canada. Further, it is one of Canada’s youngest and fastest-growing cities, thanks in part to excellent affordability and a growing technology and innovation ecosystem. ZPC offers full-time, flexible hours, Monday to Friday.
