Zero Point Cryogenics Delivers Custom Systems to Scientific Instruments and Qubic
At Zero Point Cryogenics (ZPC), we design and manufacture robust and reliable dilution refrigerators, the core cooling platform for quantum computers and cryogenic research. In April 2025, we successfully delivered two fully customized systems: one to Scientific Instruments, a global leader in cryogenic sensor technology, and one to Qubic, a Canadian research initiative developing photonic quantum computing systems.
Each delivery is an example of how purpose-built cryogenic infrastructure enables scientific progress, whether in precision calibration equipment or in scalable quantum technologies.
Supporting Sensor Calibration: Scientific Instruments
Scientific Instruments has been at the forefront of cryogenic sensor and measurement technology since 1967, providing solutions for aerospace, healthcare, and quantum research sectors. To enhance their sensor calibration capabilities, we delivered a customized Model I dilution refrigerator designed for precision and operational efficiency.
Key features of the system include:
- 120 DC wiring lines directly to the mixing chamber plate to accommodate testing and calibrating large numbers of low-temperature sensors in parallel.
- Inverted tabletop design for streamlined sample exchange and optimal lab integration.
- Custom Python scripts to precisely control the temperature of the sample plate, enabling hands-free operation and precise temperature stepping.
This tailored solution enables Scientific Instruments to perform high-accuracy calibrations under ultra-stable cryogenic conditions, supporting their commitment to precision in measurement science.
A Customized Solution for Advanced Sensor Calibration
Qubic is a Canadian research initiative focused on developing scalable photonic quantum computing systems. Their work involves integrating optical circuits to enhance the performance and scalability of quantum information technologies.
Through the Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) Challenge, Qubic selected Zero Point Cryogenics to provide a cryogenic system capable of meeting the spatial and thermal demands of photonic experiments. We delivered a customized Model L Continuous Cold 1.4 K Cryostat, featuring:
- 1.4 K operational temperature for stable and consistent photonic quantum experiments.
- A cryostat design tailored to accommodate integrated quantum photonic components with the flexibility to expand as the research evolves.
This system provides Qubic with the infrastructure needed to further develop and test photonic-based quantum processors, supporting their mission to advance scalable quantum technologies through light.
Jérôme Bourassa, CEO of Qubic, shared his thoughts on the collaboration:
“Thank you to the Zero Point Cryogenics team for the seamless installation and support! We’re thrilled to have the Continuous Cold 1.4 K cryostat in place and are excited to push forward and accelerate our quantum sensing research and product development. This is an important step for Qubic as the ZPC system will enable us to create real-world quantum sensing tests and use-cases. This is a really exciting time and we’re looking forward to achieving great things together!”
A Word from Our CEO
Christopher Cassin, CEO of Zero Point Cryogenics, shared his thoughts on the collaboration:
“We are proud to have partnered with Scientific Instruments and Qubic to deliver customized solutions directly to industry experts. By tailoring our Model I and Model L systems, we are helping to advance cryogenic and quantum expertise beyond academic labs.”
Commitment to Precision and Progress
At Zero Point Cryogenics, we take pride in working with organizations that push the boundaries of science and technology. Whether we are enabling better cryogenic sensor calibration or supporting scalable quantum systems, each system we build is crafted to help researchers go colder, longer, and further.
This month’s dual deliveries highlight the value of collaboration and engineering flexibility. By listening closely to our clients and adapting our systems to their specific needs, we continue to advance the reliability and performance of cryogenic platforms in both research and industry.
