Zero Point Cryogenics at Quantum Now – Advancing Canada’s Quantum Ecosystem in Montréal

Zero Point Cryogenics was proud to take part in Quantum Now, a leading forum dedicated to accelerating Canada’s quantum innovation landscape. Held at Montréal’s Grand Quay during the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the two-day event brought together decision-makers from government, industry, and academia to advance the commercialization and scalability of quantum technologies.

Organized by Quantum Industry Canada and Distriq, the conference welcomed more than 375 attendees and featured over 60 speakers across keynote sessions, policy roundtables, and panel discussions. Representing Zero Point Cryogenics were our CEO Christopher Cassin, Chief Commercial Officer, Elise Usunier, and Technical Sales Associate, Eric Daigle, who each played an active role in shaping and contributing to the national conversation.

Quantum Now: Driving National and International Collaboration

ICanadian Prime Minister Carney’s office announced that quantum technologies has been named among the priorities for the G7 Leaders’ Summit, which took place June 15–17 in Kananaskis, Alberta. This is a pivotal recognition of quantum as a strategic technology — central to economic growth, national security, and international cooperation. Quantum Now served as a national and international platform for industry leaders, researchers, policy makers, and investors to come together and discuss the roadmap for Canada’s quantum future.

The forum placed a strong emphasis on infrastructure readiness, commercialization strategy, public–private partnerships, and the development of a resilient national supply chain. Keynote speakers included the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Taro Shimada, CEO of Toshiba, Alex Challens, CEO of the Quantum Insider, among others. The event also included a showcase featuring 23 technology companies advancing quantum innovation across hardware, software, and supporting systems, including Zero Point Cryogenics.

As the only Canadian manufacturer of dilution refrigerators, Zero Point Cryogenics was proud to contribute our voice and technology to this important national dialogue.

A Visible Role on the National Stage

At Zero Point Cryogenics, we believe in being active participants in the quantum ecosystem, not just as engineers and manufacturers, but as collaborators and advocates for scalable infrastructure. Quantum Now offered a high-visibility platform for us to do just that.

Our CEO, Christopher Cassin, delivered a spotlight presentation on the importance of cryogenic infrastructure in supporting scalable quantum computing. His session, Designing Scalable Cryogenic Infrastructure for Canada’s Quantum Future, outlined the critical role that dilution refrigerators play in stabilizing qubit performance, enabling quantum communication, and moving technologies from lab-based proofs of concept to real-world applications. His message reinforced the importance of engineering precision, reliability, and local manufacturing in supporting Canada’s national innovation strategy.

Elise Usunier served as one of the event’s main emcees, welcoming delegates and guiding the program across two days of keynotes, breakout sessions, and roundtables. With her deep industry knowledge and collaborative spirit, Elise played a central role in framing the themes of the conference and fostering meaningful engagement between public and private sector leaders.

Elise, Chris, and Eric participated in a series of pre-arranged Partnership Development Activities (PDAs) meetings with delegates from Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. The delegates were invited through Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, and were a fundamental stepping stone for increasing ZPC’s presence in Northeast Asia.

Throughout the event, our team actively engaged with researchers, policymakers, and technology developers. Through these conversations, we helped attendees understand how the technical capabilities of ZPC’s cryogenic systems align with the practical requirements of quantum laboratories and scalable infrastructure projects.

Demonstrating Cryogenics That Scale

Our booth at the Quantum Now technology showcase featured our dilution refrigerator systems, the ultra low temperature hardware that forms the foundation of many quantum research platforms across Canada. With growing interest in areas such as quantum computing and materials science, many attendees visited our booth to learn how cryogenics supports consistent qubit performance and reliable experimentation at millikelvin temperatures.

We spoke with organizations actively planning their next phase of research and development, looking for systems that deliver reliability, longevity and scalability. These values are central to our approach at ZPC. Whether it is building hardware for national research institutes or supporting early-stage innovators, we design our systems so that our clients can focus on their quantum breakthroughs rather than maintaining their cryostat.

Our systems are engineered for precision, durability and ease of use, reflecting our vision of building intuitive and dependable cryogenic solutions. With features like industrial-grade metal seals, remote access and real-time notifications, our customers gain confidence knowing their experiments are supported by robust infrastructure backed by Canadian craftsmanship and dedicated customer support.

Immersed in Innovation: Touring and Taking in Montréal

While the main conference kept our team fully engaged with panels, keynote sessions, and partner meetings, our experience at Quantum NOW began a day earlier with the sold-out insider tour, Québec’s Quantum Edge. Organized by Distriq, the Institut Quantique at Université de Sherbrooke, and 3iT, the tour offered a rare opportunity to explore some of the most advanced quantum research facilities in the province.

From Montréal to Sherbrooke, we joined fellow attendees for an in-depth look at Espace Quantique, the Innovation Zone, C2MI, ÉTS, and Anyon’s MonarQ quantum computer.

The experience gave us a deeper appreciation for Québec’s growing ecosystem and sparked conversations about collaboration, infrastructure, and the evolving needs of quantum research teams across Canada. For ZPC, it was a valuable moment to connect directly with institutions that rely on dependable cryogenic systems to bring their work to life.

Following the tour and two full days at the conference, our team took time to enjoy the vibrant energy of Montréal. On the final evening, Christopher and Eric capped off the week with a bungee jump over the St. Lawrence River, an unforgettable leap that felt right at home in a conference built around bold ideas and boundary pushing.

Looking Ahead

Our participation in Quantum Now affirmed what we already knew, Canada is at an inflection point when it comes to quantum technologies. The ideas shared on stage, the questions asked on the expo floor, and the partnerships forming behind the scenes all reflect a national ecosystem gaining momentum.

At Zero Point Cryogenics, we are proud to contribute to this progress with Canadian-built cryogenic systems designed to be colder for longer and scale with the evolving needs of quantum research and commercialization.

We extend our sincere thanks to Quantum Industry Canada and Distriq for organizing a thoughtful and purposeful event. We look forward to continuing the conversations started in Montréal and to reconnecting with the community at the next Quantum Now conference.
