The APS Global Physics Summit 2026 was a landmark event for Zero Point Cryogenics (ZPC). As Canada’s sole manufacturer of dilution refrigerators, we travelled to Denver to show the world that the future of quantum infrastructure is more accessible, reliable, and integrable than ever before.

The Big Reveal: Going “QPU-Ready” with Rigetti Computing
The headline of our week was undoubtedly the announcement of our official affiliation with the Rigetti Novera™ QPU Partner Program. To highlight the occasion, we displayed our Model L fridge, installed with the Novera 9-Qubit QPU.
Setting up a quantum processing unit (QPU) can require a large amount of custom engineering. By partnering with Rigetti, we’ve pre-integrated our flagship Model L dilution refrigerator to be perfectly compatible with their Novera QPU.
Integrations with Quantum Machines and Vasta
Our fridge was also integrated with the industry-leading chip carrier for coherent superconducting quantum systems – Quantum Machines’ QCage.24 and QFilter. These devices together provide high-frequency signal lines to send and receive quantum information and “clean” the electrical signals going down to a quantum chip.
Through our partnership with Vasta, we showcased their high-density wiring throughout our fridge chandelier. Vasta’s world-class quality and connectivity showed how we can equip any port with a dense mix of RF, DC, and optical channels while adding cryogenic filters, isolators, and more.
Integrating quantum component collaboration into our infrastructure demonstrates technological advancement, and how researchers can now skip the months of infrastructure headaches and move straight to the science.
Beyond the Qubit: Innovation Across the Spectrum
While quantum computing was a major focus, our time at the summit highlighted that cryogenics is the backbone of many scientific frontiers. Our booth was buzzing with discussions about our patented Phase Separation Refrigerator – utilizing the first new cryogenic cooling method in over 60 years, providing quicker cooldown times, significantly less helium-3, and steady state temperatures as low as 500mK.
Our CTO and Co-founder, Dr. John P. Davis, discussed this innovative cooling while taking the Mile High Ballroom stage to discuss Novel Sub-Kelvin Cryogen-free Refrigeration. Along with explaining the specifics of how dilution fridges operate, he shared his love for helium-3 through an explanation of the rare quantum superfluid state occurring, at the extremely low temperatures at which we operate.
Connecting with the Community
Beyond the exhibition hall, the summit provided a perfect backdrop for team bonding and deeper networking. Between team dinners and lunches with our customers, we stayed busy co-hosting the Resonance III event.
While our dilution refrigerators are recognized for their ultra-low noise levels, we proved that the same cannot be said for the ZPC team in a karaoke room. After (unsuccessful) attempts at hitting the high notes in Bohemian Rhapsody, the team enjoyed connecting with partners and fellow industry pioneers from across the globe. We also showed our spirit at the Quantum Machines St. Patrick’s Day Event, walking away with some keepsakes from their photo booth.
A “Shared Future”
The theme of this year’s summit, Science for a Shared Future, resonated deeply with the ZPC team. Whether it was discussing the physics of heat-switches with fellow scientists, or chatting with graduate students about the challenges of thermal-noise metrics, the spirit of collaboration was everywhere.
We’ve heading back to Edmonton, Alberta, with full notebooks and a reinforced drive to build the world’s best dilution refrigerators. The future is coming fast, and we’re making sure it stays Colder for Longer.
About Zero Point Cryogenics
Zero Point Cryogenics manufactures robust and reliable hand-crafted dilution refrigerators, the primary low-temperature platform that enables quantum computing. As the only manufacturer of its kind in Canada, ZPC is dedicated to bridging the gap between customized research and commercially scalable solutions, ensuring its products stay “Colder for Longer” to support the global quantum revolution.
