We are looking for a hands-on problem solver to fill the role of CAD Supervisor as part of our growing team. Our ideal candidate will be accustomed to CAD Design and working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can easily change. They will be able to prioritize concurrent projects and be passionate about doing so in a detailed and organized manner. The organization and structure of our design team is critical to ensure the success of our corporation as a whole. While it will continue to be a team effort, our ideal candidate will take ownership of the design and drafting department, delegating when appropriate. This role is integral to our success as we commercialize our core product.
What you will do
Working closely with our Project Lead you will have the opportunity to help design and CAD our next generations of dilution refrigerators and other cryogenic products. We expect you to ask questions, learn, be open to growth, and attend technical training as required.
- Lead the 2D and 3D CAD design of cryogenic systems and subassemblies, translating concepts from scientists and technologists into fully detailed Inventor models and manufacturing drawings.
- Oversee and mentor a growing team of designers, ensuring high-quality, consistent work across mechanical, electrical, and vacuum disciplines.
- Take ownership of the company’s Design Revision Process, maintaining version control and documentation standards across all projects.
- Develop assemblies using both in-house manufactured and purchased components, applying sound engineering judgment around materials, tolerances, and physical constraints.
- Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Autodesk Inventor and ensure proper integration with the company’s ERP system.
- Prepare and release detailed manufacturing drawings for external vendors; collaborate with procurement and QC during inspection and acceptance of incoming components.
- Liaise with Project Management to ensure designs and drawings are complete, approved, and ready for production or customer delivery.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication between all departments—engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and operations—to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines.
- Collaborate with machinists and engineers to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and efficient CNC workflows; familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) is an asset.
- Establish and maintain design systems that link CAD data to inventory, vendor documentation, and internal manufacturing workflows.
- Manage and curate a centralized CAD library of vendor and custom components, ensuring proper standards and reuse of proven designs.
- Recommend and implement new design tools, processes, and standards that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability across the design team.
- Communicate performance metrics, design progress, and improvement initiatives to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious workspace; uphold documentation and quality standards at all times.
- Review and interpret manufacturer manuals, drawings, and QC specifications related to component storage and maintenance.
You can succeed in this role if you have:
- Five (5) years of experience with Autodesk Inventor 3D or similar CAD software
- Work experience drafting fabrication and assembly drawings for manufacturing
- The ability to interpret and create design drawings
- Experience with ERP software and inventory management
- A high level of accuracy and are detail-oriented
- Technical design skills
- Solid experience with Microsoft 365 software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and Google Software (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet)
- Excellent time-management skills to meet firm deadlines and estimate drafting time

Strong candidates will have:
- Organization of CAD Vault Programs
- IT knowledge/experience
- Revision Control Management
- Experience with ISO9001
- Scientific/cryogenic background
- A background in manufacturing
