Zero Point Cryogenics (ZPC) is proud to announce that the Edmonton-based company has been awarded a contract to test a dilution refrigerator for the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). ZPC is the only Canadian manufacturer of dilution refrigerators and is growing fast to satisfy the increasing demand for cryogenics as countries and corporations compete for quantum advantage. As the platform for quantum technology, the refrigeration systems enable researchers to explore the cutting edge of science and innovation.
The test will be funded by Innovative Solutions Canada Testing Stream program. Part of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), ISC partners with Canadian small and medium size businesses to award contracts to innovators who are developing novel solutions to current challenges facing Canadians.
Features of the custom dilution refrigerator for the NRC include a massive 340 mm base plate, a base temperature of 10 mK, and a 5 Tesla superconducting magnet for exploring spin qubits. In addition, custom upgrades have been added such as pre-installed fiber-optics at both 780 and 1550 nm, GHz RF wiring for superconducting circuitry, and fast warm-up heaters for rapid turn-around. The unit differentiates from competitors’ products by being the most compact unit on the market, is fully automatic by way of intuitive touchscreen technology, and is designed for ease-of-use and simple operation by one person.
