We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on problem solver to join our growing team as an Installation Technician. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex systems, values precision and quality, and is comfortable in a customer-facing environment with routine international travel.
This role includes an initial approximately six-month, hands-on training period with our Production team before transitioning into independent field installation work. During this time, you will build a deep understanding of how our cryogenic systems are designed, assembled, tested, and quality-controlled—knowledge that is essential for long-term success in the field.
The ideal candidate is patient, curious, and motivated to invest time upfront to master the technology before working independently. This role is integral to our success as we continue to commercialize and scale our core products.
What Will You Do
Working closely with our Production and Service Leads, you will support the full lifecycle of Zero Point Cryogenics systems—from in-house assembly and testing through to global installation, commissioning, and service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building a strong understanding of how cryostats are designed, assembled, and tested to enable effective field troubleshooting and repair.
- Traveling internationally to install, test, commission, and service cryogenic systems at customer facilities.
- Training new and existing customers on the safe and effective use of their Zero Point Cryogenics refrigeration systems.
- Performing scheduled maintenance and warranty service work throughout the lifecycle of each system.
- Recommending maintenance and service items based on system condition, usage, and best practices.
- Performing electrical wiring, routing, labeling, termination, and soldering of 14–36 gauge wires, electrical connectors, and low-temperature coax cables.
- Installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and process equipment.
- Using hand and power tools to assemble cryostats and fabricate metal components during production and installation activities.
- Taking accurate measurements using multimeters, tape measures, calipers, helium leak detectors, and digital thermometers.
- Reading and interpreting manufacturer manuals, drawings, and quality control specifications.
- Completing installation, service, and administrative documentation using Odoo, HubSpot, and Google Workspace.
- Performing other related duties as assigned, with responsibilities evolving based on operational needs.
Preferred Experience
- Electrician Trade Certification, Heavy Equipment Journeyperson (3rd/4th year completed) , or Instrumentation Journeyperson would be considered an asset.
- Engineering Technology diploma, Physics degree, or Engineering degree would be considered an asset.
- Customer service experience in a technical or advisory role would be preferred.
- Direct, in-depth experience operating or installing low temperature physics experiments or equipment would be considered an asset.
- Experience sourcing technical materials for electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation, or other applications.
- Vacuum and/or refrigeration experience.
- Electrical/mechanical shop or similar manufacturing experience would be preferred.
- Excellent time-management and task-prioritization.
- Strong documentation skills for internal and external technical materials.
- Experience with multimeters and other testing equipment used in the startup and commissioning process.
- Intermediate or greater experience using Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Office and Google workspace.
- Ability to perform daily planning and organizational practices while working with a high-degree of independence and integrating cohesively within the team.
- Ability to think critically, multitask, and quickly adapt to new technical challenges.

- Excellent work history and solid references.
- Ability to lift 30 kg, work overhead and work in confined spaces inside the control cabinet.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid passport (or the ability to get one) and the ability to pass security clearance checks.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a frequent basis.
- Dual citizenship (Canadian plus USA, EU country, or Japan) is considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary: $70,000 – $80,000 CAD
