Who We are Looking for
We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply, even if you do not meet every qualification listed below.
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Lead who will take ownership of engineering systems, manufacturing processes, production standardization, and quality across the organization.
This role functions as the head of Engineering at Zero Point Cryogenics and is responsible for bridging the gap between R&D and production. The successful candidate will lead the development of the systems, procedures, documentation, and operational standards required to successfully transition products from prototype and development stages into scalable manufacturing.
This role will play a critical part in building the operational backbone of the company by establishing SOPs, manufacturing processes, inspection standards, quality systems, and engineering documentation that support repeatability, scalability, and operational excellence.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, systems thinking, engineering judgment, and the ability to independently build structure in a fast-paced and evolving deep-tech environment.
What Will You Do
You will own and lead all aspects of engineering process development, manufacturing standardization, and operational quality systems.

- Lead the transition of products and systems from R&D into scalable production
- Develop manufacturing workflows, engineering processes, and production methodologies for new and existing products
- Determine best practices for manufacturability, repeatability, and process optimization
- Collaborate closely with R&D, machining, procurement, and production teams to support successful product commercialization
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and engineering operations
SOP & Process Development
- Build and maintain detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) across production and manufacturing activities
- Create standardized work instructions, assembly documentation, inspection procedures, and testing protocols
- Establish engineering documentation systems that support consistency, scalability, and training
- Address the backlog of undocumented production knowledge by formalizing operational procedures across departments
Quality Systems & Incoming Inspection
- Lead the development of engineering quality systems and process controls across the organization
- Oversee incoming inspection and validation of raw materials, machined components, pumps, and supplier-provided parts
- Establish QC checkpoints and traceability systems throughout manufacturing and assembly processes
- Develop corrective and preventative action (CAPA) processes to identify and resolve systemic issues
Manufacturing & Technical Oversight
- Review engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications to ensure manufacturability and production readiness
- Support production teams in troubleshooting technical and process-related challenges
- Implement scalable engineering and operational frameworks that support company growth
- Ensure alignment between engineering intent and production execution
Global Quality & Compliance
- Support the development of systems and documentation aligned with applicable engineering and quality standards
- Build processes that support international deployment, customer requirements, and future certifications
- Establish documentation and traceability systems suitable for global customers and regulated environments
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as a technical leader across engineering, production, machining, procurement, and manufacturing functions
- Influence operational decision-making through strong engineering judgment and process expertise
- Communicate engineering risks, operational gaps, and improvement opportunities to leadership
- Support training and technical development of production personnel on procedures, standards, and best practices
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership and direction for engineering processes and operational standards across the organization
- Support training and development of team members on procedures, manufacturing standards, and process discipline
- Establish accountability for operational quality and consistency across all departments
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, documentation, and process ownership
