Zero Point Cryogenics as BetaKit's Most Ambitious 2026

Zero Point Cryogenics named to BetaKit’s Most Ambitious 2026 on Canadian Sovereignty

Edmonton company is Canada’s only manufacturer of cryogenic infrastructure that the global quantum industry runs on

TORONTO, ON / May 25, 2026 — Zero Point Cryogenics, the only Canadian manufacturer of the cryogenic infrastructure that quantum computing, quantum sensing and quantum communications technologies depend on, is being honoured as a BetaKit Most Ambitious honouree with the 2026 awards recognizing those strengthening Canadian sovereignty, autonomy and prosperity.

Zero Point Cryogenics is one of only six companies in the world that build the cryogenic infrastructure required for quantum technology to operate, and the only Canadian company.

“We’re a Canadian company, building globally disruptive technology in Edmonton,” said Chris Cassin, CEO and co-founder of Zero Point Cryogenics. “True quantum sovereignty requires looking at the entire supply chain. Whether a quantum system operates near absolute zero or at room temperature, cryogenic infrastructure is an essential link in the quantum supply chain, and in securing Canada’s quantum future.

“To be recognized by BetaKit for our ambition when it comes to Canada’s sovereignty — that lands for us. We are the engine that runs the quantum technologies that will underpin defence, dual-use and nation-building capabilities at a time when Canadians recognize the importance of economic self-reliance and security independence.”

The second annual edition of BetaKit’s Most Ambitious issue and awards will be unveiled Monday at the BetaKit Most Ambitious: Town Hall, kicking off Toronto Tech Week 2026 at TIFF Lightbox. Zero Point Cryogenics will be represented by Chief Growth Officer, Doug Johnson.

BetaKit’s 2025 honourees included quantum companies Xanadu and Photonic alongside ecommerce giant Shopify and financial services firm Wealthsimple.

“Zero Point Cryogenics started innovating in a lab at the University of Alberta. Today we’re shipping Canadian-built systems to customers on three continents, and we’re hiring and upskilling Alberta tradespeople into a sector that didn’t exist five years ago,” said Cassin. “Thank you to BetaKit for seeing the importance of the engine that drives quantum tech, and including Zero Point Cryogenics among the Most Ambitious honourees.”

About Zero Point Cryogenics

Zero Point Cryogenics builds the engines that all quantum technology runs on: cryogenics. Every quantum computer, quantum sensor, and quantum communications system requires cryogenic infrastructure as part of their hardware stack. Only six companies in the world build cryogenic infrastructure for quantum, and Zero Point Cryogenics is the only one in Canada. Founded in 2017 in Dr. John P. Davis’ low-temperature physics lab at the University of Alberta, Zero Point Cryogenics is built to innovate. It’s the patent-holder of the first new form of continuous cooling below one Kelvin invented in 60 years. Zero Point Cryogenics’ dilution refrigerators and continuous cold systems are deployed at quantum companies, defence facilities and research institutions across the globe. A partner for Canada’s government, security establishment, and the growing quantum industry, Zero Point Cryogenics is the dual-use champion quantum technologies rely on. Zero Point Cryogenics’ mission is to fuel the quantum economy, and ensure our global success drives Canadian prosperity, job creation and quantum sovereignty. Learn more at zpcryo.com.
