Zero Point Cryogenics Joins Canada’s Quantum Innovation Delegation to Japan
Zero Point Cryogenics’ CEO Christopher Cassin and Technical Sales Associate Eric Daigle recently embarked on an inspiring journey to Japan as part of Canada’s Quantum Innovation Partnership Delegation. Representing Canada, their visit was packed with conferences, B2B meetings with local companies, visits to vendors and distributors, as well as a healthy exposure to local food and cultural experiences. This unique opportunity highlighted Zero Point Cryogenics’ commitment to advancing quantum technology on a global scale, while showcasing Canada’s role as a leader in the field. From connecting with industry innovators to discovering new partnerships and exploring Japan’s vibrant culture, the trip was the next stepping stone in Zero Point Cryogenics’ journey to expand innovation worldwide.
About the Quantum Innovation Partnership Delegation
This delegation, organized through Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service and National Research Council’s (NRC) Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP), is part of a broader effort to support Canada’s position as a global leader in quantum technology. The program connects Canadian quantum companies with international markets, facilitates partnerships, and drives joint innovation projects that support both Canadian and Japanese industry. Being chosen to represent Canada is an incredible privilege, reflecting the progress Zero Point Cryogenics has made in advancing quantum technology. We were proud to join fellow innovators to showcase Canada’s expertise and to share our unique approach to cryogenics with new global partners.
Advancing Knowledge at the Quantum Innovation Conference (QIC)
As part of their itinerary, Chris and Eric attended the Quantum Innovation Conference (QIC), hosted by the RIKEN Institute. This conference brought together thought leaders, researchers, and industry experts from around the world to drive forward the latest innovations in quantum science. By participating in sessions and discussions focused on quantum computing, annealing, and algorithms, Chris and Eric gained valuable insights into quantum advancements beyond North America. ZPC’s expertise in dilution refrigeration sparked new and meaningful dialogues with leading industry figures, starting the path toward long-term collaborations.
Strategic Networking with Deloitte and the Canadian Embassy
In a key event co-organized by Deloitte and the Embassy of Canada to Japan, Chris and Eric connected with local companies, quantum industry players, and potential investors. They presented ZPC’s technology and vision to local Japanese companies, investors, and key decision makers. This event provided an invaluable platform complete with B2B pitch sessions for us to introduce Zero Point Cryogenics to new partners and investors, building relationships that we hope will fuel our growth in Japan.
In-Depth Site Visits to AIST, G-QuAT, and RIKEN
The delegation’s site visits to the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Global Quantum Science and Technology Hub (G-QuAT), and the RIKEN Institute were a unique opportunity to witness Japan’s technological and industrial capabilities firsthand. AIST is celebrated for its pioneering work in industrial and technological progress. At G-QuAT, AIST’s dedicated quantum unit, Chris and Eric observed Japan’s efforts in quantum sensing and communications, including their new qubit fabrication cleanroom space and quantum computers. They also visited RIKEN’s Quantum Computing Center, gaining valuable insights into Japan’s approach to quantum research and development.
Strengthening Partnerships with Japanese Vendors and Distributors
Outside the scheduled events, Chris and Eric enjoyed engaging dinners with vendors, potential collaborators, and distributors. They met with Keycom, a trusted vendor, where they had insightful discussions about manufacturing processes and future collaboration and products. They also had the pleasure of dining with representatives from local business experts in cryogenics and scientific instruments, including Niki Glass and LxRay Co., to explore future expansion opportunities. These discussions opened new pathways for ZPC, and deepened relationships with trusted partners. The Canadian delegation’s communal dinner also fostered camaraderie among Canadian companies, opening up more opportunities to work together back on home soil.
Embracing Japan’s Culture: Sightseeing, Shopping, and Fun
Amid the busy schedule, Chris and Eric took advantage of the chance to explore Japan’s rich culture. They immersed themselves in the vibrant sights of Tokyo, enjoyed Japanese cuisine, and found themselves enchanted by local “normalities” — whether it was discovering Pokémon collectibles, hot springs, shopping for high-quality Japanese stationery, or simply enjoying the streamlined transportation systems of a big city. These experiences added a joyful, unforgettable layer to their trip, highlighting the beauty and creativity that makes Japan so unique.
Looking Ahead
Being part of the Quantum Innovation Partnership Delegation was both an honor and an exhilarating experience. We’re grateful to the Trade Commissioner Service and NRC IRAP for facilitating this opportunity and for the support they provide to Canadian companies like ours, connecting us with new markets and helping drive innovation. This journey has not only expanded Zero Point Cryogenics’ horizons but also strengthened our commitment to leading advancements in quantum technology.
As we look forward to future collaborations and growth in Japan. We’re excited to build on the connections, knowledge, and inspiration gained from this incredible delegation experience. Here’s to the future of quantum technology and the role we proudly play in shaping it!
Zero Point Cryogenics – Colder for Longer
Zero Point Cryogenics manufactures cryogenic equipment called dilution refrigerators, which are the primary low-temperature platform enabling quantum computing. The company is focused on designing robust and reliable dilution refrigerators to enable quantum technology research and innovation. ZPC is the only manufacturer of its kind in Canada and one of the few manufacturers of this technology in the world. The company is actively bridging the gap between customized and commercially scalable solutions, creating flexibility for quantum research and innovation while having the depth to scale. At Zero Point Cryogenics, we improve and iterate our designs based on customer optimization and are driven to build a product that stays colder for longer.
