EDMONTON, July 8th, 2024 – Zero Point Cryogenics is thrilled to announce our successful graduation from the 2023/24 Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Quantum Stream at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. This achievement highlights Zero Point Cryogenics’ presence and impact within the global quantum market. We are excited to leverage the wealth of knowledge and expertise gained from CDL to elevate our business and further advance our dilution refrigerators and cryogenic systems.
About Creative Destruction Lab
Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a seed-stage accelerator program for massively scalable, science-based companies. The nine-month program employs an objectives-based mentoring process to maximize equity value creation. Launched in 2012 at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, CDL has expanded to thirteen sites across seven countries. Companies that have graduated from the program have created more than $35 billion in equity value to date, making significant impacts across various industries.
Zero Point Cryogenics’ Participation in the Program
Graduating from CDL is a proud milestone for Zero Point Cryogenics. Over the past nine months, ZPC’s CEO, Christopher Cassin, and CCO, Elise Usunier, have benefited from the mentorship, strategic guidance, and access to the network of industry leaders and investors provided by the accelerator. This experience helped refine ZPC’s business model and accelerated the commercialization of our technology.
CDL is a competitive program where companies complete a series of technical and business objectives, each designed to challenge and grow the founders and their teams. ZPC-specific objectives included culture and human resources development, strategic product decisions, and an evaluation of export market opportunities, among others. Through the program, ZPC gained relationships with mentors who grew to be dedicated to our success and with founders of global companies in countries such as Australia, France, the USA, and Canada. ZPC further benefited from the support of an MBA fellow, Aditi Agarwal, who later joined our staff part-time to continue refining our business strategy.
“Our journey through CDL-Quantum has been transformative,” said Christopher Cassin. “The depth of expertise and the caliber of mentors we’ve had the privilege to work with have helped equip us with the tools and insights needed to better scale our team and technology.”
Elise Usunier added, “CDL provided us with unique opportunities to connect with industry leaders and potential partners. The mentorship and strategic guidance have been invaluable in refining our commercial strategies and identifying new market opportunities. We are excited to build on this foundation and drive forward our mission of advancing the state-of-the-art in dilution refrigerator technology.”
The CDL-Quantum Stream, specifically tailored for companies working on breakthrough technologies in quantum computing, materials, and sensing, has provided us with a unique platform to validate our innovations and connect with potential partners and customers. The objectives-based approach of CDL ensured that we remained focused on key milestones and forward progress.
Outlook After Graduation
As we celebrate, we look forward to leveraging the momentum gained from our participation in the CDL program. The support and resources provided by CDL have been especially helpful in positioning us for future success. The collaborative spirit and shared commitment to innovation within the CDL community have made our journey incredibly rewarding, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead.
Zero Point Cryogenics – Colder for Longer
Zero Point Cryogenics designs and manufactures cryogenic equipment including dilution refrigerators, which are the primary low-temperature platform enabling quantum computing. The company is focused on designing robust and reliable cryogenic solutions to enable quantum technology research and innovation. ZPC is the only manufacturer of its kind in Canada, and one of the few manufacturers of this technology in the world. The company is actively bridging the gap between customized and commercially scalable solutions, creating flexibility for quantum research and innovation while having the depth to scale. At Zero Point Cryogenics, we improve and iterate our designs based on customer optimization and are driven to build a product that stays colder for longer.
