Zero Point Cryogenics at qConnect 2024: Exploring Quantum Innovation
Alberta’s growing status as a hub for quantum advancements was highlighted once again at qConnect 2024, hosted by Quantum City in Calgary. With over 400 attendees, the summit focused on quantum technology and its applications in health, energy, and sustainable development. We were proud to participate in the event, which offered a platform to demonstrate our latest developments in cryogenic refrigeration for quantum research. Representing Zero Point Cryogenics were our CEO, Chris Cassin, and Technical Sales Associate, Eric Daigle, who engaged with attendees on the applications of cryogenics within quantum innovation.
qConnect 2024: A Platform for Quantum Collaboration
qConnect 2024 is an annual event organized by the University of Calgary’s Quantum City initiative, bringing together global leaders, researchers, and experts to discuss advancements in quantum technology. The event addresses how quantum solutions can tackle pressing challenges across sectors, such as health care and energy. This year’s conference saw a notable increase in participation, with more than 400 attendees, reflecting growing interest and investment in quantum technologies.
We appreciated the opportunity to engage with peers through the event’s panels and fireside chats, where topics such as quantum-enhanced energy storage and advancements in medical diagnostics were explored, along with a fantastic “ELI5” (“Explain Like I’m Five”) discussion on Quantum Computing. These discussions emphasized how quantum technology is making strides from theoretical research to practical, real-world applications.
Our Experience at qConnect 2024
qConnect 2024 provided us with an incredible opportunity to engage with fellow quantum technology professionals, researchers, and innovators. Throughout the event, our CEO, Chris Cassin, and Technical Sales Associate, Eric Daigle, interacted with attendees, discussing the role of our dilution refrigerators in quantum research. The conference fostered insightful conversations about the future of quantum applications, ranging from advancements in medical technology to innovations in energy systems. It was a valuable chance to explore new ideas and strengthen collaborations in the quantum ecosystem.
Looking Ahead
Our participation in qConnect 2024 reinforced our commitment to contributing to quantum innovation. The conversations and partnerships formed during the event left us inspired to continue supporting the growth of Alberta’s quantum ecosystem. We thank Quantum City for organizing this valuable conference and look forward to what lies ahead.

Zero Point Cryogenics – Colder for Longer
Zero Point Cryogenics manufactures cryogenic equipment called dilution refrigerators, which are the primary low-temperature platform enabling quantum computing. The company is focused on designing robust and reliable dilution refrigerators to enable quantum technology research and innovation. ZPC is the only manufacturer of its kind in Canada and one of the few manufacturers of this technology in the world. The company is actively bridging the gap between customized and commercially scalable solutions, creating flexibility for quantum research and innovation while having the depth to scale. At Zero Point Cryogenics, we improve and iterate our designs based on customer optimization and are driven to build a product that stays colder for longer.
