We are looking for a Technical Sales Associate who is passionate about helping customers advance their work in materials science, quantum technology, and low-temperature physics. This role is well-suited for someone who brings strong technical curiosity, enjoys building trusted relationships, and is motivated to deeply understand both customer needs and ZPC’s products.
You are comfortable engaging with highly technical audiences and take pride in representing complex technology with clarity, credibility, and integrity.
What Will You Do
Working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and the sales team, you will manage the full sales lifecycle, from early discovery through customer acquisition, while ensuring a high-quality customer experience throughout.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging with customers and prospects to understand their technical requirements and support their cryogenic needs.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Identifying business opportunities, generating warm leads, and supporting partnership development.
- Developing a deep understanding of ZPC’s product line by spending hands-on time in our Edmonton assembly facility alongside physicists, machinists, and technicians.
- Researching and understanding customer applications in low-temperature physics, quantum computing, and related fields.
- Researching and responding to tenders from academic, government, and industry customers.
- Leading or supporting negotiations and assisting in closing sales opportunities.
- Handling client inquiries, clearly communicating technical information, and emphasizing the value of working with ZPC.
- Liaising with project management, design, R&D, and service teams to coordinate successful order delivery.
- Supporting smooth handoffs from Sales to Project Management and After-Sales Service following deal closure.
- Anticipating customer needs and supporting management in developing sales strategies and action plans.
- Representing ZPC at industry events, conferences, and trade shows in Canada, the U.S., and internationally.
- Supporting ZPC’s marketing efforts with customer insights and technical input.
- Ensuring accurate data entry and pipeline management within HubSpot CRM.
Preferred Experience / Technical Skills
- PhD or MSc in Physics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with dilution refrigerators in academic or industrial environments.
- Experience in B2B technical or deep-tech sales (e.g., scientific instruments, hardware, engineering, or research-focused environments).
- Strong technical foundation in thermodynamics, cryogenic platforms, and low-temperature physics applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proven academic or professional track record with solid references.
- Independent work ethic combined with strong team collaboration skills.
- High integrity, accountability, and respect for confidentiality.
- Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- A valid passport and ability to pass security clearances for customer site visits when required.
