Who We are Looking for

We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply, even if you do not meet every qualification listed below.

We are looking for a senior Python developer with strong integration experience, solid SQL fundamentals, and the technical judgment to design systems around real-world operational constraints.

This role is well suited for someone who combines strong backend development skills with product-minded thinking—someone who is curious about how the business operates, comfortable engaging with stakeholders, and motivated to design systems that are reliable, usable, and built to last.

You will play a key role in shaping and evolving the software systems that support ZPC’s production, manufacturing, inventory, purchasing, finance, and other core business functions as the company continues to grow.

What Will You Do

Working closely with operations, manufacturing, finance, and technical leadership, you will contribute across the full lifecycle of ZPC’s enterprise software systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining backend software that supports ZPC’s core business operations.
  • Working directly with stakeholders to understand real-world workflows and translate them into effective system solutions.
  • Gathering and clarifying requirements, helping prioritize work based on operational impact and long-term value.
  • Building and maintaining integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms using APIs.
  • Writing clean, well-structured Python code in production environments.
  • Working with SQL-based databases to support data integrity, reporting, and operational visibility.
  • Making thoughtful trade-offs between new features, system stability, and maintainability.
  • Supporting system adoption through clear documentation, practical training, and iterative improvement.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve usability, performance, and scalability as the organization grows.
  • Collaborating across disciplines and contributing where needed in a fast-moving, scaleup environment.

Preferred Experience / Technical Skills

We are most interested in candidates with strong software fundamentals and systems thinking.

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and solid general software engineering principles.
  • Experience building and supporting API integrations between internal systems and third-party tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL , including querying and schema understanding.
  • Experience working on complex, interconnected systems where reliability and usability are important.
  • Ability to ask good questions, clarify requirements, and design solutions grounded in real operational needs.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with comfort working alongside non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have / Considered an Asset

  • Familiarity with Odoo or similar ERP platforms in a long-term, hands-on capacity.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, hardware, or operations-focused environments.
  • Exposure to agile or iterative development practices.
  • Front-end or JavaScript experience related to internal tools or system interfaces.
  • Experience supporting adoption of internal systems across teams.

What Will You Bring

  • A thoughtful, pragmatic approach to building software that supports real work.
  • Comfort engaging with people across production, operations, and business teams.
  • Strong technical judgment and a collaborative mindset.
  • Initiative to propose improvements and follow them through.
  • Respect for shared workspaces and appreciation for how systems support hands-on teams.
  • Curiosity, accountability, and pride in building systems that work well over time.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and education
  • 100% employer-paid group benefits, including:
    • Health and dental
    • $750 annual Health Care Spending Account
    • Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
