What We Do

At Zero Point Cryogenics we are growing quickly and commercializing our core product, dilution refrigerators, which are the primary low-temperature platform for quantum computers and quantum technology research. We design, engineer, fabricate, assemble, test, and install state-of-the art dilution refrigerators for our customers in quantum computing companies, as well as university and government labs. Born from a low-temperature physics research group, with a focus on low-temperature excellence, at ZPC, innovation is in our roots.  We are continuously improving our current systems and developing new systems to meet the varying needs of our customers.  

Compensation

Annual salary of $50,000 - $65,000 CAD / Year

 

All employees will be eligible to participate in benefits and profit sharing programs as they become available.

Location and Schedule

Our shop is located at 9773 45th Ave NW, Edmonton. This position is full-time Monday to Friday, starting between 7am-9am.  We aim to create a flexible work schedule that allows our employees to meet obligations outside of work. However, there may be irregular hours to meet certain deadlines and we will be required to track our time for project costing. We expect the candidate to work the necessary hours to complete all tasks; however, salary is based on the position and is not on an hourly basis. Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on problem solver to fill the role of Office Manager as part of our growing team. Our ideal candidate will be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can easily change. They will be able to prioritize concurrent projects and be passionate about doing so in a detailed and organized manner. We are looking for someone that is on point and forward-looking that can help bring awareness and detail around decisions that are being made. The organization and structure of our front end office is critical to ensure the success of our corporation as a whole. While it will continue to be a team effort, our ideal candidate will take ownership of all office administration and bookkeeping tasks, delegating when appropriate. This role is integral to our success as we commercialize our core product. The ideal person for this role is enthusiastic to step into this developing position and grow with us.

What You Will Do

Working closely with our founders John and Chris, as well as our director Human Resources, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and collect information from across the company, help manage the founders’ schedules, and develop a deep knowledge of both our accounting software and our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). We expect you to ask questions, learn, be open to growth, and attend training as required.

  • Develop a core understanding of our technology in order to collaborate with our team

  • Work extensively with accounting and purchasing to ensure our ERP is up to date and accurate, including data entry and review

  • Ensure all invoices and receipts are received in a timely manner from both suppliers and staff, record receipts, and reconcile accounts

  • Continuously monitor all accounts (in accounting software, bank account, credit cards, etc.) to ensure accuracy of spending

  • Assist with payroll where necessary

  • Prepare budgets and review with upper management, as required

  • Communicate continuously with the founders to help them stay organized, on schedule, and protected from distractions

  • Work with founders to maximize the efficiency of their time and keep their runway clear of obstacles with a focus of growth

  • Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies

  • Work on grant applications and structure their implementation

  • Manage leases and utility providers, negotiating terms as necessary

  • Communicate performances and efficiencies with management

  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and organization of your area

Strong candidates will have:

  • A diploma or undergraduate degree

  • Experience working in an accounting software such as QBO or Sage including data entry, account reconciliation, and budgeting

  • Experience working with and / or helping implement an ERP system

  • Proficient computer skills specifically with Microsoft and Google software

  • Excellent time-management and task-prioritization

  • Documentation skills to create internal and external documentation relating to your work

  • Ability to work with a high-degree of independence and integrate cohesively within the team 

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and quickly assume new tasks as required

  • A passport (or the ability to get one) and the ability to pass security clearance checks
